The first area we decided to tackle was the passengers front sill and seat well. We already knew this had been a bodged job from inspections and couldn't wait to strip back the rust to the "good metal". The outer sill had been patched and welded and filled and was chiseled off to reveal a gaping hole in the outer and inner sills. We also found that a portion of the seat well had also rotted through and would need replacing as can be seen below.

At the weekend I hired a low loader and we went to pick the car up from Birmingham. The journey was filled with anticipation and worry not knowing what to expect!

Upon arrival we inspected the car and found the usual rust in the sills and some do-it-yourself welding, which left a lot to be desired. The car however looked great and my mind was made up. We spent the next hour trying to load the car onto the low loader due to the front skirt and lowered suspension but soon she was on and we were making our way back to Kent.

After a few hours drive we arrived back in Kent and unloaded the car onto the driveway. Unfortunately on our way out we clipped the low-loader resulting in the loss of a £100 deposit but it was still a frill to see the 635 sitting in the driveway the next morning!

Going, Going, Gone!

I have always loved the BMW 635 CSI, the car simply stands for all that is great about BMW, and so after years of looking and wondering, I finally purchased my very own E24! The car is by no means the best example but it was an eBay special and it looked a real head turner. Infact my eBay big was so last minute that I could hardly believe I was now the proud owner of my very own classic E24.
